Applicants wishing to become part of the current examination cycle for VTS (Physical Rehabilitation) eligibility should continue to check this page for more details after April 1st of each year. Examinations are currently held in the fall of each year (September-November).
Examination Learning Objectives/Domains
Examination questions are based off the APRVT Skills List (Core and Supplemental). The breakdown of question type is listed below.
Required Core Categories
Canine/Feline Behavior and Handling - 10 questions
Small Animal Anatomy, Physiology and Directional Terms - 10 questions
Responses of Musculoskeletal Tissues to Disuse and Remobilization - 10 questions
Patient Assessment and Management - 15 questions
Physical Modalities, Manual Techniques and Adjunctive Treatments - 20 questions
Common Conditions and Surgical Procedures in Veterinary Physical Rehabilitation - 10 questions
The VTS (Physical Rehabilitation) board examination will be a 100 multiple choice question with the possibility of at least one written answer question. Examination questions are validated by diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation on an annual basis with at least two references found in the APRVT reading list.
Fees
Examination fees can be paid in the APRVT Store and are non-refundable. The fee for the Examination are $100.00. Examinees are responsbile for securing their own housing and transportation.
Special Accommodations
Should an examinee require special accommodations, the Exam Chair must be notified prior to the examination in the time period specified in the APRVT ByLaws.
