Some Describe it as the Ride of Your Life

Do remember the first time opening the VTS application packet and thought to yourself; holy crap, have I actually earned enough points or been to enough CE to even qualify? Let alone being able to keep track of it all and still raise two kids, treat my patients, work at a university, mange a house, clean up after 6 cats, 3 dogs, 5 reptiles and a partridge in a pear tree......... did you slow down and sing the last part? Because many of us have done just that. Every. Single. Time. It’s hard, and most of us will be the first to step up and validate how true that is. We all know having a VTS is special and we are all proud of how hard we worked to get them and each of us is humble enough to admit that we may not have passed that first attempt and had to resubmit. And it sucked. There isn’t a better phrase or way to put it. A lot goes into a first attempt, but maybe it wasn't your best. Maybe you were rushed and didn't want to miss a deadline and submitted 'hoping for the best'. Or maybe time got away from you during the process and a few loose ends weren't buttoned up. Doubt and imposter syndrome feelings are normal and everyone deserves some grace. Whatever the reason and all excuses aside, the important thing is to continue to push through and rely on the qualifications and skills you have. Time may not always be on our side, but persistence and hard work will always be a part of you. We all took different journeys to get to our VTS and so will you. Stay in it and don't give up!
